A newly endowed scholarship has been established to support Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students in Alabama. The Riley, Hamilton and Alabama Nurses Foundation Endowed Scholarship combines the previously non-endowed Dr. Brenda Riley Endowed Scholarship with contributions from the Alabama Nurses Foundation and Dr. Bernita Hamilton, a former nursing professor and director.
The scholarship is now endowed with $50,000 and will primarily support DNP students. The Alabama Nurses Foundation provided $25,000 from the sale of "Nurses Save Lives" license plates, and individual scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 per year are also awarded by the Foundation.
The aim of the endowed scholarships is to positively impact healthcare in Alabama by supporting doctoral nursing students in their academic pursuits.
