$2000 Undergraduate Scholarship

Criteria

Current Alabama resident
Currently enrolled full-time in an Alabama School of Nursing
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale or higher
Must have completed at least one semester of nursing courses as evidenced by official transcript from the last completed college semester

General Information

Scholarship funds may be applied to tuition and other eligible school-related expenses at an Alabama-based school of nursing. Recipients will receive an authorization form allowing their school to apply the award directly to those expenses.

If the student is enrolled in a pathway or dual-enrollment program, the authorization form also authorizes the school to apply or forward any remaining funds to the appropriate Alabama-based school of nursing.

Application Requirements

Deadline to receive application and all emailed materials will be November 15, 2026

Application will include:
- Student Information Form (below)
- Letter from school indicating current enrollment status and anticipated date of completion sent to scholarships@alabamanursesfoundation.org
- Completion of essay questions (below)
- Official transcript sent by the institution's registrar sent to scholarships@alabamanursesfoundation.org
- Picture (high-resolution headshot)

Award Process

Recipients are selected by the Alabama Nurses Foundation Scholarship Committee, and their decision shall be final
Recipients will be notified on or around December 15, 2026
NOTE: The check and packet will be mailed to your home address provided below. You will be responsible for hand-delivering the check and the packet to your school's finance office.
Award recipients will be asked to record a brief cell phone video expressing gratitude for the scholarship and sharing their goals as a nurse. Instructions will accompany the award packet with their check.

Recipients will be selected by the Alabama Nurses Foundation Scholarship Committee. Their decision shall be final. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance, inspiration, goals, work, school and/or community involvement, and writing quality will be evaluated (grammar, clarity, etc.).

The NURSES SAVES LIVES car tags provides funding for all levels of ANF scholarships. It is not necessary for undergraduate applicants to have a car tag; however, upon graduation, recipients of ANF scholarships are expected to support this endeavor. Tags may be ordered from any Alabama County office.

I understand that the following brief essay questions are important in the review and selection process. Limit responses to no more than 200 words per question.

Describe what inspired you to pursue the nursing profession and your current career path. Include your immediate and long-term goals for your career path and how this scholarship will help you achieve this.

Provide an example of a past achievement or leadership role and describe or anticipate how it will help you with your career path.

List volunteer and/or work experiences and state how these will influence your future nursing career.
