The Alabama Nurses Foundation (ANF) is proud to support a statewide hands-only CPR training initiative through grants awarded to Church Nurses and the Nurses Corner and Chi Eta Phi, a national nursing sorority. This initiative will provide CPR training to thousands of individuals across Alabama, equipping them with lifesaving skills and increasing community preparedness for cardiac emergencies.
Each organization is launching training sessions at multiple sites, with Church Nurses and the Nurses Corner operating at seven locations and Chi Eta Phi at eight locations throughout the state. Both groups have set a goal of training at least 1,000 people per site by the end of June.
This initiative is unique in its partnership with the American Red Cross, requiring each group to collaborate with local American Red Cross chapters to ensure high-quality, standardized CPR instruction. Hands-only CPR, as recommended by the American Heart Association, simplifies traditional CPR techniques, making it easier for bystanders to provide immediate and effective assistance during a cardiac emergency.
“Our mission at the Alabama Nurses Foundation is to support initiatives that have a direct and meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our communities,” said Dr. John Ziegler, Executive Director of ANF. “By funding these hands-only CPR training programs, we are empowering nurses to lead critical public health initiatives and provide essential skills that can save lives.”
ANF continues to support nursing excellence and public health efforts through various grants, scholarships, and leadership initiatives. In addition to this CPR training project, the Foundation is now offering community grants to support innovative health initiatives across Alabama.
